Tesla

Crashed while going 100 mph, sending battery parts up in the air into an apartment.
Not good!

I'm happy to hear you are OK. Pretty neat that they can go 100 mph. Probably lost control of the vehicle. 85 is my top speed on a straight section of the PA turnpike.

It wasn’t a guy in a ‘29 Duesenberg either.

I’m not crazy enough anymore to try, but according to the Google the top speed is 145 MPH.* Also, despite the article saying it’s a Model S it’s actually a Model 3.

*The car in the picture might be standard range, so 140 MPH.

I once hit 90 by accident on a very good stretch of I-10 in TX (limit was 80). Anything higher gets really dangerous if there's debris on the road, even in the absence of any other vehicles.

I hit 90 once whilst in the 85. People were passing me and it's an area where there's a reputation for a lot of wild hogs.

I still laugh at New Yorkers today with their 45mph speed limit in their pretend race cars.

Says a lot about the safety of a Tesla which the article ignores.

I once hit 90, also accidentally, on I-80. The road was so smooth and so few cars, I felt like I was going only 50 until I checked the speedometer. When I was much younger, I wanted to go 90. I was on the New England Thruway, and quit at 89 because 90 felt like it would be too dangerous. I remember the lampposts coming by very quickly.

The car crashed at 100 MPH and the guy survived. How is that a problem with safety?

I once hit 113 on purpose. That’s not something I’ll likely ever try again.

IIRC , I hit 85 on I-95 in CT., driving to the Branford Trolley Museum.Like others have said, one false move or debris on the road, and you're in trouble.

That shows it is a very well built vehicle for crashes. That's great news.

You are correct, I had to do that to keep up with traffic. At that speed, I got the best gas mileage ever with my car, 35 mpg!!!

I got pulled over on my Harley on I-95 in Maine by a Maine state trooper who said I was doing 90. I told him "impossible, a Harley couldn't go that fast". He laughed! And of course he let me go since I was on the job.
