And how many travelers does the US have compared to New Zealand? The primary burden of preventing travelers from entering a country usually falls on the country of departure and the carrier. There's a passport and visa check before boarding a plane or ship. Those without the proper papers are prevented from boarding. The number of agents agents in the destination country required to enforce a travel ban isn't a consideration. New Zealand immediately banned all foreigners from entering its country. It permitted its citizens to return but placed all of them in a 14 day quarantine upon arrival. New Zealand's immigration and customs personnel assigned to arriving travelers is proportional to the number of arriving travelers. Likewise the number of US personnel immigration and customs personnel is proportional to the number of arriving travelers. |

Auckland has not been on lockdown since August 31st. Here's a link to the press briefing where the reduction of their "Level 3" restrictions were confirmed. The Level 3 restrictions meant that travel in/out of the Auckland area had been severely restricted. That travel restriction was removed on Aug 31st, along with the lockdown. The rest of the country had been on "Level 2" restrictions, since the 4 community Covid cases was found on Aug 11th. Here's a link to these restrictions. Auckland has been on a modified Level 2, since Aug 31st. The special restriction on Auckland concern limited number at social gatherings. About 33% of the community cases since Aug 11th have been traced to one particular church and a subsequent bereavement meeting at a non-member's home by church members. One of the bereavement party visited a school. One of the church members visited another school. Both schools had to be shut down and disinfected. The first church member received his coronavirus dose on a public bus. New Zealand has identified two people who became infected on that bus. New Zealand had not previously used masks. The documented transmission on a public bus resulted in the new restriction that all people on buses and other forms of public transport wear masks. New Zealand was planning to evaluate whether to reduce the restrictions tomorrow (Sep 14th in NZ). Any reduction would take place on Sep 16th. Border restrictions still remain in force. Only citizens can return and they must stay in quarantine for 14 Covid-free days. |

These aren't BLM. They get a free pass; that's why they're out there grinding up against you while you put your personal identification number number in the Money Access Center machine (nowadays Automated Teller Machine machine). They were called MACs in a lot of New Jersey locations too, BTW. First result on a Google search for "mac atm" has someone on Quora asking "Why do people in the Philadelphia area call the ATM a 'MAC machine'", funny enough. |
