Mazel tovGood ball player for sure Also today is Tom Seaver’s 300th win on Phil Rizzuto Day in 1985. Rod Carew got his 3000th hit the same day in 1985. Nolan Ryan punched Robin Ventura in the head a half dozen times on this day in 1993. |

ThanksNow I cheated and looked it up and it’s also Dallas Green’s birthday, if he were alive, Ray Oyler of Jim Bouton Ball Four fame but he died around 1981. And local BJ Surhoff turns 56 today. |

Also hit a career high .340 in 1969, losing the batting title to Pete Rose. That .340 mark stood as the Mets' record for a single season batting average for almost 30 years. John Olerud broke it in 1998 when he hit .354 (he didn't win a batting title either). |

Luckily, I developed a sore throat on Monday night, so I was able to stay home and watch Games 3 through 5 (also luckily that my grandmother was able to come over to stay with me since my mother had to work). I actually felt better going into Thursday, but I told my mother "better give it one more day" 🙂 And Davey Johnson, makes the last out for the Mets first World Championship, and manages them for their other one. |
