In many cases, "absentee voting" is by the request of the voter, and 17 of the 50 states require the voter to state a reason for making the request. The other 33 states (and DC) have "no-excuse-needed" absentee voting.Voting By Mail (VBM) refers to the way some states send every registered voter in the state a mail-in ballot. This method has gained more prominence during this pandemic. In both absentee voting and VBM, all ballots get sent in by mail, which for actual election purposes, makes them essentially the same. Only Trumpers find any "fraud" attached to either method, even though voting by mail has been around since 1864. In fact, in states that have voter ID cards, you receive them... through the mail, via the same Post Office Trump "doesn't trust" to return completed ballots to those very same election offices... |

In many VBM states they are proposing mailing ballots to eligible voters without them being requested. There are no safeguards to make sure that the person is still at that address or is even the person filling out the ballot. What if that person shows up on Election Day but had previously mailed in a ballot but election office wasn’t able to notify voting location in time? |
