As the middle class has shrunk since the seventies, They now occupy a smaller marketplace. So I t's harder to sell the ambiance and quality of their products. Add to that the repetition from outlet to outlet, at higher prices more cannot pay and it's inevitable disaster. It,s not entirely about Amazon. People still go out to shop. They're just not going into these higher-end stores. They can't afford it. The few that can aren't enough to support them.
