Charlie Daniels passes away after suffering stroke

Monday, July 6th 2020
Country music and southern rock legend Charlie Daniels has passed away after suffering a stroke, his representatives announced Monday.

The Grand Ole Opry member and Country Music Hall of Famer was 83.

Absolute Publicity, Inc. said Daniels passed away Monday morning at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage after doctors say he suffered a stroke.

Daniels has raised hundreds of thousands for veterans over the years and established a Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center at Middle Tennessee State University.

"An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor, and a true road warrior, Daniels parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children, and others in need. The Charlie Daniels Band has long populated radio with memorable hits and his signature song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia."

RIP. I remember his one hit song but more recently he’s remembered for his lame open letters to Obama.

His other top 40 hit (crossover) was "Uneasy Rider" from back in the early 70s.
The hell with his politics. I just remember him for his music. I have his greatest hits CD & might just fire it up. He was a damn good fiddle player.

What I meant to say is to hell with bringing up politics & letters to Obama at a time like this. Everything in life or death dosen't have to have a political tinge to it. I basically could give a shit less about his politics. Its his music that made the man.

But as far as that goes, lying about the man's politics is the worst manifestation of bringing them up in the first place.

If you equate the music with the musician, his personal politics should be of no consequence. You could lie or tell the truth about a musicians' politics. To me, I could care less, in one ear and out the other. I'm in it for the music.

IDWTP. Charlie Daniels died and he was a real person beyond whatever good or bad you thought of his music. He’s gone but I think that he would agree that he was more than that and would want to be remembered for it all.

I know about Cat Stevens. After 9/11, I had a real conflict between his music and his philosophical direction. But whats the beef with Eric Clapton?
