Broadway..The end

Posted by Are dee em on Mon Jun 29 15:36:46 2020

It’s interesting how in the midst of all this hyperbole not a word has come from (Dear God, do I dare say it, The Great White Way?) Are they scrambling to come up with a different name? Are they trying to convince every theatre owner to show Hamilton all at the same time? Or are they wondering how they’re going to convince busloads of their bread and butter(White seniors with money) to brave a trip into Deblasio lawless land to see a show. Maybe a police escort to the theatre district? Oh, that’s right, no police.

The seventy's were that bad?

There was a friendly cop on The Odd Couple last time I saw it on television.

Hey, maybe your party will ban The Odd Couple next!

Or course I have. Not looking for a brawl. What other venue has not been saddled with such a cumbersome label. Great White Way. And what other form of entertainment has attracted my aforementioned White, Senior , audiences. I’m simply trying to rationalize why we’ve heard nothing from Broadway . Waiting to see which way the wind blows, then jumping on board. Whatever pays the bills. Then take a knee and pat yourself on the back.

I really like this old Movie Palace I have in my downtown. Still has the original organ, Moroccan features, and its a freaking 3000 seat maze.

O-BLM destroyed all the windows and the place is closed. They announced today they probably won't survive now.

You have more hope. Nancy's 4 stimulus bills had so many pet projects, Broadway may get in #5. Those are Union Jobs.

Want to see a good cop show? I recommend "Barney Miller"
Gritty, realistic and with a 70s feel with the characters & story lines. Now if that show gets pulled, to get my cop show fix, I'll just have to go out & by a box set of "Car 54 Where Are You?" DVDs & make the best of it!:)

Broadway is doomed. They have to cater to an audience that is politically incorrect. Entire scripts will have to be re-written. The difficulty of pulling Aunt Jemima Syrup off the shelves pales in comparison.

You have no clue. Broadway audiences are remarkably liberal.

I saw Hamilton the day after the 2016 election.

"Immigrants - we get the job done" got multiple minutes of cheering. Various other lines that could be interpreted as digs at Trump got long applause too.

Ironically the real (white) Hamilton was against immigration.

An interesting thing I noticed in that article abstract is that Hamilton wrote under another pseudonym. GOP38 Chris considers Hamilton to be immature.

Yes. A liberal audience attendance surrounded by your constituents makes you feel good, I understand. Then going home and having that experience magnified by your favorite main stream media outlet helps you sleep at night. It’s that’s same smugness that caught you napping in 2016. I’m not saying that Trump is the Messiah, but you better pick a VP that can walk the walk because that Weekend at Bernie Joe Biden no show ain’t gonna last four years.

The Broadway Hamilton is clearly a quasi-fictional character. Can I say that his failings have been whitewashed?

White washed?? I respect your opinion but I’m not responding to that term. Do you mean scrubbed clean? Gotta be careful these days.

Yes. A truce then. This is supposed to be a forum. An open exchange. So often it becomes a raucous back and forth of who yells louder. I’ve often sought an intelligent difference of opinion. Let’s establish that.
