There were lots more at one point, but they were untied. Check out the video below. Skip to about 1 minute if you just want to see the other nooses.

But I do think that they were intentionally tied to look like nooses. What Luch might call redneck bonding.

The picture that the news is showing isn't a noose@ WHY would you make a slipknot that tightens around your hand when pulling on a rope handle? That makes NO sense! I'm glad I don't go through life being a victim and seeing boogeymen everywhere you look.

It isn't a hangman's noose, but it is shaped like a noose and likely for a reason. You're lucky to be able to live where things happen randomly and without meaning. I'm kind of like that, but not to your extent.

You need a loop to grab the rope with to pull it! That wasn't the only garage with that type of rope.

Most garage ropes have a knot at the end. I’ve never seen ropes with a noose-like knot before.

At one point many if not most of the garages at this track had that same loop, but most were untied. My guess is that for whatever reason someone that worked there thought that knots that looked like nooses were cool looking. Maybe it has racist connotations, maybe not. I doubt that we’ll ever know for sure.

Yes, I agree with the knot, but if I see a rope with a loop, and I see it's not a slipknot, I'm not gonna think it's a noose.

If I see a rope with a noose, I wonder who put it there and why. I don't assume the worst, but I know that it's a definite possibility. Especially in the Deep South where a certain amount of people think such things are ok.

But that's just it, a noose is the wrong type of knot for a garage closer, so it you saw one that WAS a slipknot, then you SHOULD be suspicious.

My garage door opener from Sears in my previous house , had a red pull handle , the rope sat in a countersunk hole in the handle with a skip knot,IIRC. Anyway , it's not a noose configuration.

I can't verify that ,as I'm in N.Caroilna, no garage at this place.
