Was Floyd killing personal, rather than impersonal racism?

Posted by Dyre Dan on Thu Jun 11 01:47:27 2020

There is a possibility that the killing of George Floyd was motivated by more personal reasons than most people have assumed. Apparently, Floyd and Chauvin had worked security at the same nightclub. They knew each other and had had arguments before. Did Chauvin decide to kill Floyd to get rid of an antagonist he had a history with? That would make it first degree murder. It's a big IF right now, but no longer outside the realm of possibility. It needs looking into. And it would not explain the behavior of the other three cops who were there.

I don't think it was racism or a grudge from their overlap at that club.

I think Chauvin heard, "I can't breathe" as an escalation and mouthing off from someone who was going to jail.

Chauvin was going to show the perp and especially onlookers that he isn't afraid of a brutality charge. But he kept his knee on for too long.

(and you can bet every cop in America is asking why Chauvin's partners didn't do a better job of intimidating and dispersing the crowd instead of letting them get video and audio footage just 5 yards away)

Well, they had no authority to do any such thing. Maybe they had been clearly told that. What they did have was an obligation to stop their partner from committing murder. Maybe their prosecution as accessories will make that message be one "every cop in America" will think about.

If it is true that Chauvin held a grudge against Floyd from their work at the club, then isn't it possible that Chauvin, angered that a Black man would dare talk back to him, felt he could murder and use his authority as a police officer to give him legal cover?

Maybe. But good luck trying to prove that beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutors should just stick with what they have, IMO.

This story gets stranger every day. Floyd was murdered, no doubt. But we shouldn't make a hero out of a guy who did time for pulling a gun on a pregnant woman.

The family seems to be working to destroy any sympathy they may have earned from normal people; they actually petitioned the United Nations to disarm US police; their shyster lawyer Ben Crump (remember him?) actually called upon the UN to "intervene".

Anti-white propaganda in reply? Wow. Just piss on the graves of all those awful whites who died on the Union side in the Civil War, why dontcha. And why don't you read some more lies out of that racist "1619 project" too?

You live in a country that was at the forefront of slavery abolition, although it didn't have the strength to do it all at once. Right at the ratification of the US Constitution, there were free states. And our actions led to the British Empire outlawing slavery in 1807 too. But your leftist fellow travelers reversed all that, resulting in there being more slavery outside this terrible no-slavery country (and others) in the world at any time in human history.

But keep nursing your unnatural hatred and see where that gets you, never mind the world.

It was so much at the forefront of slavery abolition that it was the second-to-last country to ban slavery, and it had to be done with immense violence.

You have that backwards. The British ended slavery long before the US did, and they accomplished that without a civil war.

You should not only read the 1619 Project, but perhaps a few textbooks on American history. It's abundantly clear you only subscribe to your own unique version of events.

Well, yeah, it is. It wasn't "foundational" to what the United States became. It started out as a relatively minor aspect of our history. But yes, African slaves were imported in 1619 to what became the United States. And since slavery is certainly a form of oppression, and many blacks continue to feel oppressed, then yes, saying there have been "400 years of oppression" is not inaccurate.
