Looking at the Floyd case did they cops actually look at the bill? Or ask the store to show why they thought it's fake? |

You'd think they would first look at the "fake bill" at the store. Maybe they did, but it's odd that none of the news reports mention that. If it was a good fake, it's possible Floyd didn't even know it was fake. |

I remember an incident where a counterfeiter left a suitcase filled with phony bills on the Madison Av bus. When nobody claimed it the bus driver ended up getting the suitcase. The counterfeiters went to his apartment and took him and his wife hostage. Luckily the bus driver's mother-in-law brought the police to the apartment. |

The difference is that many restaurants and food places banned cash. I was one waiting in line (on line in NYC-ese) and the guy in front of me didn’t have any credit cards and seemed hurt when he was told that he couldn’t pay in cash. The restaurant let him take it for free which embarrassed him even more. |

I think that it's pretty standard at many retail and fast food places in LA. Seems like I've seen it a lot, but I rarely pay with cash anymore. I really only have cash because the coworkers that I go to lunch with like to pay in cash when we split the bill. Outside of that it's almost never. |
