I was in Orlando, and I remember an eerie quiet for more than a day. I could look it up and ruin the conversation, but I want to say it was about a week.I recall an interview with a Rev. Jackson race marcher in Penna. on 9/12 or 9/13 who screamed and claimed the airlines were flying on those days and making money. That's a claim you don't need to look up to know its the typical nonsense. |

This consumption-based economy is not going to recover until there is solid evidence that a vaccine is on the way and that we are past the peak of the outbreak. Few people are going to spend money on anything but the necessities until this all dies down, no one is going to start taking flights and cruises, buying iPhones and going out to eat just because Trump said go back to work. |

But just as the 29k dow was teetering because it was overpriced in December, it is well undervalued now. Hopefully we've bottomed out and once a prophylactic vaccine is available, euphoria will start the Express elevator up tothe 30th floor and above, possibly by fall. |

It finished the day up 2000 points, over 11%.All of which is essentially meaningless. The economic value of all of the publicly owned companies did not go up 11% in the last 24 hours. Nor did it go down by a similar large percentage on one of the recent down days. Watching the daily changes in the market is pointless for most people during most times -- and entirely useless for most people now, unless you are thinking about making a significant move in or out of the market. And if you are one of those people contemplating a significant move I really really hope you aren't basing your decision in any significant way based on what you find on OTChat! |

I doubt that it'll take years but I also don't believe that itll' come roaring back as the President says. Lots of gunshot money taken out of equities will not find it's way back, so soon. Hopefully, most of us who are retired are not yet relying on our 401k,403B or 457 monies. |
