Landscapers Not Performing Distancing

Posted by Mitch45 on Mon Mar 30 08:51:44 2020

First of all, how the hell did landscaping become an essential service that was exempted from the lockdown? Can someone say “special interests”?

Second, there are landscapers outside my house right now who are working without masks and are clustering in small groups, talking. Is this permitted and if so, why?

We had 2 or 3 days of them in the last week and a half and a half in my condo/townhouse community. All they were doing was blowing leaves and twigs around that had dropped over the last few months. I only went outside to get my mail, and not when they were around.

Let the grass grow too high and you get mice, rats, etc. running through it. It's a potential health hazard.

I have to deal with these dumbass motherfs 7 days a week down my way. They stand in the middle of streets, and highways where people are doing 60mph. Or conversely, they just blow trash at your car as you drive by.
When did they become officials or construction workers?

I hear leafblowers as I type this btw. Outside of America, they use leafblowers to disinfect buildings. Here, they push one twig around for 8 hours a day.

I hate landscapers more than anything else on this earth.

???

Over 99.999% of the earth's surface is not mowed. Is everyone whose home is surrounded by unmowed nature at risk of health problems as a result?

PS. I suspect not. My sister and brother-in-law haven't mowed their front or back yard in over 50 years now*, and they're still alive.

* They have a nice little forest on their 1/6 of an acre.

Nobody hates them more than letter carriers in suburban neighborhoods!! Believe me as I did it for 15 years. Between parking vehicles and trailers all over the street and blowing dirt everywhere and their siestas on people's lawns it was very hard to deliver mail!!

They come every few months? I got them every week, soemtimes theres nothing for them to blow, so they blow dust around for 8 hours.

Sometimes they find one leaf they could just PICK UP.

I want to move to those towns in California where they're banned, just for the reason.

I often wonder how much global warming we can stop, and how much gas prices will go down if we can ban these people. And here, they're all under about 2 corporations. They're not even individuals!

Over 99.999% of the earth's surface is not mowed

Nonsequitur. The "non-mowed" parts where there is no need for landscaping are not occupied by humans.

Is everyone whose home is surrounded by unmowed nature at risk of health problems as a result?

Have you seen those kind of people who do not mow their lawns or get their lawns mowed?

Let the grass grow too high and you get mice, rats, etc.

Part of the "etc." would be certain predators without legs chasing them, who may be venomous.

Never mind the fleas that typically bite those mice and rats; even without lawns, they hang around certain concrete jungle environments and spread plague (to this day).

Yeah, when I lived south of Seattle for a few years (in the city of Renton) I was astounded that just north of me was an area that had nothing other than county government. It wasn't part of any village, city, or town.

Whereas I believe every single square inch of NY is part of a village, city, or town.

Interesting. No townships like we had in NJ?

In California we have incorporated cities and unincorporated places. Where it really gets confusing for LA is knowing which is which and which are actually just neighborhoods in LA.

Some examples. East LA is an unincorporated place. South LA and West LA are areas/neighborhoods in LA.

Hollywood is a neighborhood in LA. West Hollywood is a separate city. North Hollywood is another neighborhood in LA.
