I would rank George Washington and Thomas Jefferson ahead of him. I do agree that we should have a Federal holiday, but I also believe that Election Day should be a national holiday and nobody should be compelled to work during the hours that the polls are open. |

I agree that there national elections should be a national holiday, although I don't believe that will garner that many more voters. Among other things he lowered the National Debt, expanded the United States through thew Louisina Purchase, established United States Military Academy at West Point, ended the legalized slave trade. Also did a lot for the United States before and after his presidency. |

In some Southern states particularly, church congregations would hire buses and head to early voting. As the powers that be saw these particular groups voting over a few cycles, they suddenly decide Sunday early voting is costing too much, when all it was costing them was their hold on power. |

Reagan reached 270 before western polls close.
