A Question(s) for the Fotogs Here

Posted by Fisk Ave Jim on Wed Jan 22 19:24:29 2020

I'm moving. You don't know how much junk you accumulate until you have to move it. Amongst the "junk" I found were these two Kodak point/shoot instamatic cameras with completely spent rolls. One has a film develop date of Oct 2003 & the other is Feb 2009. My question is asking an opinion of what are the chances of the taken pictures on each camera surviving to be developed? Another question is where I would go to get the pics processed? Times like this I miss my Local Fotomat booth!
Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Wal-Mart might still offer film processing, but don't hold me to that. I used to have mine done at Target, but now all they have is a way to print your digital images (from a SD card, etc) . I think Walgreens may be digital only (in the early days of my digital camera (late 2000s) I had some prints done there. Pretty easy, logged on to the Walgreens site at home, uploaded the images, and they would be ready at the store in about an hour. I haven't printed anything in years though).

I agree, try Walgreens first. Call the store and ask.

Some CVS stores still have the equipment for developing film. The big question has the film gone bad after all this time (the chemicals in the film itself don't last forever).

Good luck.

Yeah, I forgot about them. back before I got my digital camera, I bought several one-use cameras from them (still and video). You turned it in and got prints and a CD, IIRC (obviously for the video, a CD only) I still she the photo section whenever I go into a CVS, but no idea what they are processing, since I no longer need their services.

Through the mail. I've never done it, but I read somewhere that you mail it to a few centers till.

An old blog I found through a quick search
Maybe the links work. if not, I'll find another.

Do you trust someone at a random walgreens branch who hasn't used the equipment in many many moons?

And if they don't have the equipment, they're mailing it to the same professional facility where the people are at least still trained that I would suggest.
