But I agree with your sentiment. It seems like most of my expenses are because someone deems something obsolete. I have to upgrade 2 NEW cell phones because the network has been upgraded. Cell phone voice calls all sound like absolute #### anyway. Not on these networks.

Most of the excesses of Windows 8 were completely reversed. I actually prefer the Windows 10 Start Menu to Windows 7's.

And even then, it took 9 years from Windows 7's successor being released before end of support.

Microsoft lists the Windows 10 minimum hardware requirements as: Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC. RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit. Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS 20 GB for 64-bit OS. Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver. Display: 800x600. And when MSFT says minimum, they weren't kidding. A machine outfitted this way will be VERY slow and will choke on almost anything more than email. My desktop uses an Intel i7-3200 CPU chip, 3.19 GHz. 16GB of RAM. The machine sings. You want at least 8GB or RAM, and 16 is better. You can get by with 4GB if you get the 32-bit version of Win10. I have the 64-bit. At a minimum you want an Intel i5 CPU chip or the AMD equivalent.

From the Start menu, go to Control Panel. Right-click (or double click) on My Computer and select System Properties. In the System Properties window, the system will list "Installed memory (RAM)" with the total amount detected. It will also show "Processor." Post here what it tells you.

Works OK, except when I print a document at work, an extra page prints saying it is an illegal document. Whatever (the printer/copier/fax that we use is a piece of shit anyway). Oh well, not my money.

This processor was AMD's rival to Intel's i3 chip, only the Intel chip was better. Your computer wouldn't operate well at all with this chip, if it even ran. Also, you need more RAM - you have 6GB and you'd want at least 8GB. I also doubt your computer meets the graphics requirement for Win 10. Don't try upgrading this to Win 10. Best Buy has a number of refurbished Win 10 computers with Intel i5 chips; 8MB of RAM; and good size hard drives. Price is $250 - $350. For a little more you can buy a refurbished unit with 16GB of RAM, which is what I recommend, especially if you're processing photos.

Likely, since its old, it's been slowing down with age. I wish I could advise you further, but my favorite website had its office in your side of the world, and is now closed. And when you walk into a Walmart, the "computer" section looks like phones with 2 millimeter displays. Who sells computers anymore? I dunno. I'm glad I built them myself since the beginning, I don't have to get involved in societies failures.

They're okay, but it's really a bigger real computer version of a "phone". Some convenience at first, but then with that, you have no separation of being hunched over a screen, talking via video calls in the bathroom (that I hear people do) and the rest of life. Too much mental illness being reported in the country to take the chance anymore if you don't already have one.
