If Evolution Made Sense, Then...

Posted by Andrew Saucci on Sun Sep 22 21:10:52 2019

I started thinking this morning on the way to church. That is usually dangerous, especially when I got a good night's sleep and the brain cells are sharp and functioning at their peak. Well, you may debate the last part of that, but, in any case, here's my latest allocution.

If Evolution Made Sense, Then...

I'd rather just file it under "jesting" and leave it at that.

I read it and it sounded like he was sincerely a creationist.

Ironically, the church he was driving to may have been Catholic, and the Catholic Church accepts the reality of evolution.

Dunno, when I read it, it sounded too whimsical.

Only creationists use the term "evolutionists."

No, I accept the reality of evolution.

Of course, if the OP does as well, then I was mistaken and apologize for the grievous insult. I would be deeply offended if I were confused with a creationist.

There is no factual proof of this Evolution thingy.
It is acceptable to the masses due to it's easy digestion, and truck size hyperbole.

The heart lasts long enough to allow the overwhelming percentage of people to reproduce. Evolution only encourages functions that improve your chances of having descendants. A redundant heart wouldn't help that.

Judging from the way press articles are written now, evolution is it's own diety and religion.

Evolution TAUGHT bees and wasps what stings the nervous system.
Then again, according to the Washington Post, humans invented fire too.

Evolution does not encourage; it isn't sentient. It naturally disfavors mutations and conditions that prevent reproduction.

Your statement is of course more scientifically correct than mine.

However, something does not need to be sentient in order to encourage. One can say that bright sunshine encourages the growth of plants.

Yeah, but there was a limit to his regenerating. Then I hear, he's(she, or it) is still around. I guess The Doctor evolved?

Colloquially I can take your point, but there still isn't equivalence,

Sunlight can be said to encourage plant growth, but sunlight can be naturally or artificially withdrawn.

But evolution exists notwithstanding outside factors. It is the description of natural phenomena.

Evolution didn't teach bees or wasps anything. They evolved a way of defending themselves using an existing body part.

Humans invented way(s) of making and harnessing fire.

I'd give these things a pass if they weren't in at least 80% of the non-fact checked articles out there.

Between the silly crap in the newspapers, and the typos in books and textbooks....and it isn't even that hard. I can't find a single typo in old books.

Old books were typeset by professional union printers, and proofreading was a required skill.
