Bishop Declared The Winner

Posted by TRAIN DUDE on Tue Sep 10 23:36:25 2019

Republican Candidate wins North Carolina special election. Not a good sign for the 2020 democrats or Joe V.

Not really. NC shows signs of weakness for the GOP.

It's neighbor to the north, VA is very blue.

No, with the influx of northerners, it's gotten bluer

IAWTP

Someone encouraging for me personally, as I have family roots in NC. My maternal grandparents were born and raised in NC, and moved to Brooklyn the year before my mother was born. I may still have a few relatives living there, alas, I am not in touch with them.

IIRC, Obama won NC at least once.

True about NC as a whole. But this district is 14 points redder than the country as a whole, and Trump won it by 12 points in 2016, while Bishop won it by 2 points.

It's not a bad sign either, it's meaningless.

Unless Bishop (the candidate endorsed by president Trump) lost. Then it would be significant.

Another Mr. Office Drone rationalization:
The Yankees lost by only one run last night. That almost doesnt count, then.

What bullshit.

And yes, it doesn't count. The Yankees are still 8 games ahead of the Rays despite the loss.

WASP
The Astros lost last night, meaning that had the Yankees won last night, they'd be one game ahead of the Astros for the overall best record.

Fine, but there are still games left to play. You are transferring the outcome of one game to an entire season.

Yes, you are. You're claiming that the outcome of this election is bad for Democrats, when the opposite is true. In a district that Trump won by 12 points, Republicans could only eke out a 2 point victory.

It's good if Republicans think they're sitting pretty. It's also good if this makes Democrats scared.

Yeah, a southern state with a very successful tax reform experiment that snatched how many white collar NYC jobs gives you that type of interpretation, I may start calling the blue trickle a yellow trickle.

September 11th. What's so special about that date? Oh yeah, that's the day "some people did something" to quote a Democratic Congressperson.

Why the heck is anyone in NC voting for that? It should be 99 points in America.
