IAWTPFun fact: The Queensboro was originally proposed as a suspension bridge. Somewhere along the way, before construction began, it was changed to the cantilever that stands today. I read this somewhere many years ago, and don't recall the details. I sometimes refer to it as the Queensboro Cantilever bridge :) |
