Survey: Rabbit Ears

Posted by orange blossom special on Fri Aug 16 15:27:13 2019

Who doesn't know what Rabbits ears are? Or even an Antenna?

Everyyear after the Superbowl, I read articles about people trying to stream the Superbowl game, and technical issues. It's on my television just fine. I didn't miss the end of it last year, except I wasn't watching it.

Last year I read in the WSJ about people who didn't know about television antenna's. One democrat wondered if that's considered stealing television.

Locally, I'm in some neighborhood listserv that I really need to unsubscribe from. After DirectTelevision dropped CBS, we're up to too many posts to count of people who have never heard of an antenna. People are asking how you install one. One guy is charging $75 to put one on your television and show you how it works. Another is asking what's the name of an antenna to get one at walmart. I think some of these people even bought converter boxes, which you don't need if your TV isn't 20 years old.

I KNOW everyone on earth is not under 25 years old. WTF world am I in?

I have an antenna. I know Sallam has one. Selkirk would've known how it works.

On a similar note. I gave up on people when I was posting technology related comic strips on a group board. Mid-western middle-Americans have never seen a comic strip from a newspaper before. Since I KNOW they weren't teenagers I ghosted after that.
I could rant for days.

In our guest room I have a Panasonic HD/CRT 32" TV that's too heavy to move down stairs. It's got a digital tuner and works well with the 35 year old Yagi on my chimney.

CRT? I know you got more channels in your market than I do. I at least have a 720P Flatscreen, which everyyear during The Holiday I keep saying I'm going to upgrade.
Things run for just over 100 bucks at the Wal-Marts.

I used to say I have no need to upgrade, Hogans Hero's was filmed in only so much clarity, but it did make the difference.

You get only 3 PBS's? In Texas there were 4. The 4th was in Spanish and never played anything educational at all.

I still got my card. I keep all my cards in a little box.

But now that rebates are on gift-cards instead of checks, it's kinda ruining my collection.

I have a big attic antenna with a remote controled rotor. I severed the control wires and leads in my house with the advent of cable.Whomever buys my house will find that into attic , if they go up there, when I sell it.

first, the rabbit hears subject line made me think of Oswald the Rabbit.
Second, antenna, yes my family had one on the roof, and it also made me think of "Aunt Tenna" the TV watching bathrobed sister-in-law of the father in that inanely silly weekly carton "The Family Circus"

The Family Circus is daily. Unless you saw a show version I don't know about.

Not Me finally made an appearance Sunday.
