LOL!

It's right in the heart of Hipster Brooklyn and would make a great Hookah Lounge but the location is usually "For Rent".

For some reason these mob locations are vacant often for a decade at a time.

Notice the morgue attendants carry the body by hand not on wheels.

Notice the sign and what is says about outgoing orders while the body is removed. People found humor in that.

It always appeared to me to have a racial and gender component. In my experience nearly all of the "disco sucks" crowd was white and also overwhelmingly male. I never understood the animosity. If I don't like a style of music, I don't listen. It doesn't upset me that other people like it. I think that the disco sucks movement was a backlash against something bigger than just the music.

Nah. IMO, you're reading too much into this. Many whites were into disco, (think Bee Gees, "Saturday Night Live" movie).
Disco was formula music with basically a similar sound, beat etc. easily getting fatigued on the ears. If it was a Black/White thing, there would have been a "Motown Sucks" night.
That never happened, thankfully!

I don't know if it was a black vs white thing, but it was certainly a white thing.

I understand that lots of people did t like it, but the disco sucks movement went way beyond that.

Gay thing?

A lot of the men who were into disco were gay. It certainly skewed gayer than other genres of music.

OTOH, jazz and rap are/were both "blacker" than disco, and their opposition was of the typical parents hating their children's music sort of thing.

It could be. I was around but too young to know about disco being gay.

Rap ha gotten to where it's hated by parents but when I was young there was a lot of animosity towards it by some that was similar to disco.

At least in the gangsta rap era the opponents could lean on the lyrics. Disco hatred had no such excuse.
