Because the 2 of them weren't outspoken enough, and basically didn't have the media chops, IMO. AOC is bolder and more enthusiastic - she just does better at whipping up the base. She might be able to do better against Gillibrand, IF something can be pinned on Gillibrand.IMO, the reason AOC is doing so well is because conventional Democrats and conventional politics are failing to address the income inequities and cost of living issues. People then start looking to more radical and populist solutions (see: Hugo Chavez). |

On the other hand, Schumer and Gillibrand are much more popular than Cuomo.If a skeleton emerges from either of their closets of course all bets are off. But then there may be lots of other primary candidates as well, and it all becomes incredibly unpredictable. |

I took the statement literally, but probably even she is smart enough that going up against an incumbent with multiple term experience won't fly, so perhaps she might get behind a like-minded peer with more experience. |
