Anyone watch this last? I'm watching it now on demand. This sure brought back a lot of memories.

I heard that Woody Harrelson was miscast as Archie Bunker.

Agreed! I think Harrelson played the role well, but but of course we're used to a chubby Archie Bunker.

He took over Rod Steiger's role of Chief Gillespie from the movie too. (And instead of shooting the movie in Sparta MS, they shot in Sparta IL.)

And that reminds me of Smokey and the Bandit, where some people apparently were claiming that Jackie Gleason (from Brooklyn) couldn't pull off a Southern lawman either. (Rod Steiger was born in Westhampton, Long Island. O'Connor was born in Manhattan and raised in Forest Hills.)

Hope nobody over in England gets the idea to give the same treatment to the show that inspired Norman Lear. And nobody comes close to Warren Mitchell (born Meisel) when it comes to portraying Alf Garnett, the prototype to Archie Bunker.

I thought it was interesting that they could say the n word in the 70s, but couldn't now, even in the context it was used in in the Jeffersons episode. They chose to stay true to the script, but bleeped it.

I almost have to agree with you. Usually remakes pale in comparison to the original. In addition, life has moved on. What was cutting edge or contemporary comedy then is getting old. It's not worth my time.
