All Documents Lost

All my document files/folder, going back many years, are gone for good. I was attempting to establish myself on the Cloud and while the process was in transfer mode ("limbo") I terminated since it was extremely slow going and I simply ran out of time - I intended to return to the exercise at another time. The problem was during the two factor authentication I failed to check the box re. saving copies of the documents. I did not yet have Time Machine set up for external storage. Apple confirmed what I thought; that is, it is non-recoverable. Although I am at fault I told Apple there ought to be a stronger Warning message confirming the consequences of not checking the relatively small box. It pretty much sucks to be me right about now.

Please explain in greater detail. I assume you mean you enabled iCloud Drive. Why would it delete your un-uploaded docs?

I am sorry to hear about this. You should have had your stuff backed up in two places,the Time Machine, and the Cloud.I am an Apple user and my stuff is safely backed up. I hope a knowledgeable person can bail you out of this dilemma.
