I recently read

Posted by Avid Reader on Thu Apr 18 04:46:54 2019

I recently read a report that FRIENDLY RESTERAUNTS are closing all locations because of failing sales.
What a great opportunity for Chick fil A

They're closing because the eating habits and trends of "millennials" don't match up with what a lot of these restaurants are offering.

Look at Applebee's and Friday's and other "casual" dining places...Fridays is almost extinct at this point.

Chick-Fil-A® is a fast food joint.

Friendly's® is labelled as a casual (but not "fast food") dining establishment.

I read two weeks ago some but not all restaurants, unless this is newer information.

I'm not a millennial but I've never seen the point of Friendly's and TGIF.

If I just want to keep from feeling hungry, they take up way too much of my time. If I want a good dining experience, they don't provide good enough food. I'd rather eat at a place with better food.

Because you live in New York City.

In much of the country, Friendly's and TGIF have better food.

OK. The kind of place where one of the best restaurants in town is the Friendly's is the kind of place I only visit to go hiking. :)

And then I'm not usually interested in fine dining.

You've got it backwards.

NYC has much better food than much of the country. Friendly's and TGIF suffer in comparison with the local fare.

Friendly's served breakfast which was a niche for me when traveling. I avoided it after the griddle closed. It was a second choice for breakfast, if there were no local establishments open.

I disagree. The Hudson Valley has much better food than NYC. Far greater variety, readily available. Fresher. Then again, we send the rejects downstate. Lulz.

Yes, they are different kinds of places.
Now the soon to be locations may be vacated, it may be a wise location for Chick-fil-A

Friendly's and TGI Fridays are two different types of restaurants. 9ne is a bar/grill, the other, a dineresque ice cream parlor.

But point taken I never cared much for friendly's. And there's better options than TGI Fridays for that type of food.

You are correct most of the change suck in NYC area.
I know TGI Friday started in New York but my worst experience at one of them was one of the Manhattan ones. New York doesn't do any chains well.

I agree that the area around the CIA is an oasis.

I've found the best bet for Albany is to bring sandwiches.
