One complained of having to practice ‘battlefield medicine,’ while another apologized for the ‘3rd world conditions’ caused by overcrowding,” the newspaper reported. ******** I'd like to see the ER waiting room full of illegals waiting 12 hours to have their colds and flu's treated. I'll miss haivng always been within 5 UC's, ER's, and hospitals in a 3 miles radius since I've been putzing around the sunbelt. But, it's what the treatment the popular vote wants against it's democratic base! #votedemoncrat!

Human lives are more important than economic systems Why did my hernia operation EOB cost $16K last year (out of pocket $1K), where as it would be a few hundred dollars en toto in Japan ?

You wouldn't want to lose all that wealth you accumulated as a "responsible adult", would you? Look up the market rate for a bypass in NYC to see what I mean. Under the system as it exists now, most Americans are one severe medical episode away from financial ruin. Insurance is a trickier thing than most people in this country imagine, even with ACA. They'll take the money they save on premiums and stash it or have more stock buy-backs.

Dermos are much cheaper than other specialties like urologists and cardiologists.

I have lifetime retirement when I was force-retired a few years ago. (Now I have a W2 job). But I have a lot of empathy for people who do not, and if that means buying into ACA or Medicare, so be it. Health and life preservation trumps capitalism.

A lot of group insurance plans and Medicare adopted the latter as a result of ACA.

I even get reimbursed for our medicare deduction. It's not capitalism that's the issue. It's usually a failure to plan for your future. I chose a career that offered the benefits I wanted.

I don't know exactly the nuances, but they've balanced capitalism with their centralized healthcare such that it boils down to doctors and hospitals competing with each other for patients, since treating a patient = income from the government system (therefore, the more patients the doctor, hospital, etc can see the more money everyone involved makes). A patient sitting in a waiting room is not earning anyone money. If there's only one specialist in an area, and that specialist has a monthlong lead time to see patients, two more practices pop up right next door. There will sometimes be hospitals right across the street from each other, such that you actually can pick where you go in an emergency. The better places get more patients, therefore get more money (from the gov't). I am guessing the reason such does not work in the "west" is (tinfoil hat time) an arrangement between the medical industry and med schools to artificially limit the number of doctors and nurses, causing a perpetual shortage which results in higher costs with less competition. Doctor salaries go up, which makes the value of the med school degree higher, which allows them to charge more in tuition.
