I don't think Universities running athletic programs that are effectively minor leagues for professional sports leagues or training grounds for Olympic athletes and giving out educational scholarships to supply the athletes for those programs makes any sense at all. |

Affirmative action is only bad if it disadvantages a poor white person relative to a poor minority person.There deserves to be affirmative action in favor of kids who have grown up in a low income environment. They have to deal with adversity those in higher income environments don't face. Of course, affirmative action shouldn't be so pronounced that it admits kids into colleges where have almost no chance of succeeding. |

If you're saying bc of those economically disadvantaged then ideally that's how it should work.The fact is even with Affirmative Action statistically speaking blacks and Latinos with college degrees still struggle to find employment in their respective fields than whites with the same degrees from 'lesser' schools by a lot and at one point harder time than white without degrees also (don't know if the later is still the case however). |

Especially if they share a surname with the name of a building, stadium, or wing of a complex.There is really no benefit to fancy name schools anyway. Most states have decent state schools (at least the blue states, provided students have enough brains to ignore the partisan rhetoric spewed by tenured ex-hippies). With the current outrageous costs, private colleges themselves have become the scam nowadays, textbook examples of parting fools from their money. |
