Still, someone shouldn't get paid for what might have happened. And I said originally when this case first came out, that it is his right as an American to do that, although I think he's 100% wrong and that he sees himself a victim, but in reality he is a very very rich man who will be on Easy Street for the rest of his life, with nothing in common with the Working Man.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about and need to stick to diets. Kaepernick struggled more than once as a starter. He competed to be a starter like any other player, and eventually opted out of his contract.

He had and cultivated a skill/talent that this country deems marketable. I can't fault him for that. He might not have much in common with the common man but he put his money where his mouth is through his charitable efforts so I have nothing against him.

If Kaepernick was willing to play for league minimum he would have had takers. The problem is not collusion, but rather that he priced himself out of the market. Were there individual owners who probably thought the media frenzy was not worth it at any price, yes, but that alone is not collusion. The NFL probably settled because they felt that the cost for continuing and the potential loss of revenue by keeping the story alive was more than the cost of settlement. I deal with settlement negotiations all of the time because major areas of my practice include personal injury and matrimonial cases. I have had cases where I knew that my client would 100% prevail on an issue such as Child Support but still negotiated a settlement. We had reached a point where the other side made clear that anything more would not be forthcoming unless ordered by a Court after trial and appellate process and my client realized that, because of the age of the child, the difference in child support between what she was entitled to under the applicable law/precedent versus what I could negotiate in a settlement was less than the cost of trial/appeals on the issue.

Not necessarily. If you are losing $100 Million in revenue because fans don't want to watch NFL because of Kaepernick, settling for $80 Million saves you money.
