Unlike voting on Election Day, or mailing in your ballots, like responsible people do.

Wrong. Voting makes one a responsible person. We need to be sure someone working a double shift on Election Day gets th chance to as well.

The procedure to get an absentee ballot in NY is, at best, Byzantine.

New York severely restricts voting by mail, so most people are ineligible to do that.

As for voting on election day, lots of people actually work on a Tuesday, and being at work all day is not considered an excuse for an absentee ballot.

On the other hand, NY has the longest polling hours of any state, I believe, 15 hours.

Not that they couldn't be more flexible about absentee voting.

The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. . Unless you were out of the state, you can vote. It's been like this for years and years already. The real reason behind this is because they want to make sure that the lazy Millennials get their Democrat votes in.

Obviously you either didn't work a double shift that covered all 15 hours, or else you were able to get the necessary time off during the work day.

He was a civil servant. By government ( the employer) policy, they get time to vote. Private sector employees get 30 minutes for lunch. In some places, if you take thirty one you get docked, or even fired. He has NO concept of this reality.

P.S. having self-determination and being responsible is not the same as saying fuck you, I got mine. And I shouldn't have to say this, but why not? I am the last person who's a conservative.

Some people can’t “make time” to vote. They don’t have the personal days to take Election Day off and don’t have hours that are amenable to voting.

Of course, it inures to the benefit of conservatives to prevent working class people from voting.

I never took a day off to vote in my life. I know you will claim this is ancedotial but most of the working class that I know, voted for Trump in the last election and they hate Andrew Cuomo. Exactly. It's almost like there was a general meeting amongst the big muckety-mucks and they wanted to know why certain demographics of people did not vote in a certain election in the numbers that would have caused their person to win, and since it was found out that those demographics just will not interested in going to the polls on Election Day, they want to change the rules to make sure that you give them umpteen chances to vote so their candidate can win in future elections.

I don't put myself in any box or title. I am me. Some things fall and the right and others fall on the left. An example of some of my leftist views would be gay marriage. I have no problem with that.
