Despite their reputation as military pussies, they get out and riot when they’re up to their teeth in taxes |

It’s not been a major story for most major news sources. At least not on the Internet where I get my news. The tax is to reduce fuel consumption in response to global warming, no? I think that there are other things as well. |

Like increasing fuel taxes and lowering sales taxes at the same time. Sounds like Macron forgot about the offsetting portion of the taxes. |

So its cost neutral and people can still afford their gasoline. So what have you gained? LOL, you should actually run for her seat in congress. |

I don't think a newsfeed that's kept me informed on the subject needs a reboot but that's just me.The taxes were in response to global warming. The riots, which we were discussing, were a response to being overly taxed on fuel. They weren't rioting against global warming. |

That would have worked if the goal actually was to influence behavior like it said on the tin, instead of a straight up money grab.FWIW Gov Christie tried to do exactly that in NJ - increase the gas tax to pay for transportation while lowering the sales tax to increase economic activity (and provide a reason for people to go to Jersey to replace the low gas prices lure). The Dems refused to play ball until the bill neutered the sales tax decrease to the point where it was unnoticeable (I think it went down .125 percent or something similarly meaningless). Of course, the Dems had good reason to gimp the sales tax cut - their favorite pet programs are funded from the sales tax, whereas the gas tax actually had to go to transportation. |

I should add that I also think Macron is an out of touch elitist who probably had no conception of how close to the edge many French people are, and couldn't conceive of the tax actually causing misery, rather than just influencing behavior as economics says it does. |

They want to keep certain things quiet, particularly Swalwell's totalitarian views.Joe Biggs: So basically @RepSwalwell wants a war. Because that’s what you would get. You’re outta your f---ing mind if you think I’ll give up my rights and give the gov all the power.Yes, Swalwell certainly did say that the government would use nukes to cut a war he starts with the US populace over gun rights short. |
