I recall stories from when the Republicans took over Congress in 1994 and (to a lesser extent perhaps because I wasn’t paying close attention) about freshman house members sleeping in their office or doubling or tripling up in an apartment.House members typically won’t give up their current home or move their families to Washington for what may only be a two-year job. Maintaining two households is not cheap. |
