Neither Side Cares About America

This recent partisan violence is ridiculous.

Republicans and Democrats must get together and jointly condemn the recent violence. As my wife always complains about me, people are making “a scene” and others are looking.

I doubt it will happen though because each side wants to blame the other to score political points. And the media, the real villain, just exploits the unrest to get ratings. Nobody cares about America.

We need a Great United, a real one this time.

The crazy thing is that I think that for the first time these so-called fringe groups actually represent a significant population. People are taking sides.

Since Mitch is a very black and white thinker, I would like to add that I DO NOT condone violence unless absolutely necessary. Although I despise my government’s present leadership, I do not condone violence on either side in the interests of changing it.

PS. Our disgusting (even though Democratic) governor did the right thing and in fact condemned the property damage wreaked by those anarchists, who definitely are not Democrats.

You ever read The Conscience of a Conservative? There is some interesting stuff in that book. It focuses a lot about the left aiming to take over both political parties. It was published in 1960, and there were indications as to how bad the inroads were even back then.
The New Deal, Dean Acheson wrote approvingly in a book called A Democrat Looks At His Party, “conceived of the federal government as the whole people organized to do what had to be done.”

A year later, Mr. (Arthur) Larson wrote A Republican Looks At His Party, and made much the same claim in his book for modern Republicans. The “underlying philosophy” of the New Republicanism, said Mr. Larson, is that “if a job has to be done to meet the needs of the people, and no one else can do it, then it is the proper function of the federal government.”

Here we have, by prominent spokesmen of both political parties, an unqualified repudiation of the principle of limited government. There is no reference by either of them to the Constitution, or any attempt to define the legitimate functions of government. The government can do whatever needs to be done; note, too, the implicit but necessary assumption that it is the government itself that determines what needs to be done.

We must not, I think, underrate the importance of these statements. They reflect the view of a majority of the leaders of one of our parties, and of a strong minority among the leaders of the other, and they propound the first principle of totalitarianism: that the State is competent to do all things and is limited in what it actually does only by the will of those who control the State. . . .
That is from the second chapter, on page 15. So if the Dems were deep into the left-wing ideology back then, and they even attempted violent revolution through their proxies in the 1960s, how bad do you think they are today? (Never mind the Republicans who still want to help them.)

Not being civil is not equal to violence. Telling you to fuck off is not the same as being violent. The GOP couldn't scare everyone with MS-13 so they've moved to the Democratic Party who should be standing up to the right.

True. But I think that there’s something in our DNA that lets us adapt to change when we’re younger but less so when older. Lots of conservatives that are in their 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s and older were liberal in their younger years.

Conservatives don't adapt.....For example, look at how trump is turning back energy policy.....to the 1950s. Aside from the fact that there's been considerable technical progress in renewable energy generation and it's proven cost effective he insists on dragging us back to filthy harmful fossil fuels th should go back (and over much of globe, are) to the fossils they came from.

Because you have defined "side" so narrowly. You are leaving out hundreds of millions of people who aren't on either "side" as you have identified the "sides."
