Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey: I 'fully admit' our bias is 'more left-leaning'

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said on Saturday that he "fully admit[s]" Twitter employees share a largely left-leaning bias after facing accusations that conservatives are discriminated against on the social media platform.

In an interview that aired Saturday on CNN, Dorsey said his company has a responsibility to be open about its political viewpoints, but to operate without bias when applying content policies to users.

"We need to constantly show that we are not adding our own bias, which I fully admit is...is more left-leaning," Dorsey says.

"But the real question behind the question is, are we doing something according to political ideology or viewpoints? And we are not. Period," he added.

Dorsey went on to insist that his company only polices behavior on the platform, not content.

Dorsey's remarks follow criticism from the right over supposed "shadow-banning" of conservatives users. The platform and Dorsey have also faced questions over the decision not to remove far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from the platform, despite other social media platforms choosing to do so.

The Twitter CEO said in an interview with The Hill this week that Jones was banned after he received complaints that Jones's content was inciting violence.

"We were getting a number of reports around the tweet and the Periscope that the content was inciting violence, which is against our terms of service, and we took action," Dorsey said.

The InfoWars host received a week-long ban from the platform, but has been removed from other services including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Dorsey is expected to testify next month before the Senate Intelligence Committee on the issue of Russian election interference, and faces a possible subpoena from the House Energy and Commerce Committee over allegations of discrimination against conservatives on the platform.

Trump calling the media the enemy of the people, encouraging his supporters to attack those who don't agree with him by offering to pay heir bail, taking away security clearance for intelligence officials that doesn't agree with him. The only totalitarian is in the WH with a R in front of his name.

Trump speaking out against media he doesn't agree with isn't a problem the way he does is. Calling them the enemy of the people and openly villifying them at his rally's, his rally in PA it seemed like he was purposely trying to make the media he didn't like in attendance fear for their safety. One day one of his nut job supporters is going to do something dangerous and it will be on him.

And he and his admin has tried to censor the media. He tried banning the so called "fake media' from WH pressers. Refused to answer questions from stations he dislike at his conferences.

Alex Jones was a great target because it's hard to defend his Sandy Hook commentary. But everyone knows it's a test so that censorship can be expanded to Youtube channels that can help Republicans in an election.

Jones got booted from social media for inciting violence and defaming people.

Jones is also suspected of destroying evidence in the defamation case against him. That is not the act of a political victim, it's the act of someone who knows what he did.

That's nice. There is already Conservapedia as opposed to Wikipedia and "Rational"Wiki. But if that extends to ISPs blocking websites, we are of course already on the slippery slope when it comes to platforms that falsely claim to be for "all ideas".

Wow, two ignorant statements. The EC is in place to give states a voice. And "RW" people already have their own websites; the point is that websites that are supposed to be for all are utterly biased towards a nihilistic ideology (the left) and thus are not for all.
