Posted by https://salaamallah.com/ on Tue May 29 13:58:17 2018 ‘Roseanne’ Canceled by ABC After Roseanne Barr’s ‘Repugnant’ Comments, Network President SaysABC has canceled “Roseanne” after Roseanne Barr’s racially charged tweet about Valerie Jarrett Monday morning. “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement to TheWrap on Tuesday. “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr said earlier on Tuesday in response to a Twitter thread about Jarrett, a former adviser to Barack Obama. Also Read: 'Roseanne' Consulting Producer Wanda Sykes Quits After Valerie Jarrett Tweet Barr apologized before ABC’s statement on Tuesday, saying that her statement suggesting that former Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett is a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and the “Planet of the Apes” was a “joke” that was “in bad taste. “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks,” Barr said. “I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.” The “Roseanne” star’s tweet caused swift backlash on Twitter, and consulting producer Wanda Sykes said she would not be returning to the sitcom on Tuesday morning. ABC found themselves in a bit of a conundrum. Roseanne was always outspoken and controversial, starting in the 1980s she always said controversial statements, either on or off camera. ABC new this but yet took a chance on the reboot, which did spectacularly in the ratings. Now they were stuck. Here they had a hit where everyone's watching it, but since we live in the "years of the tears" all of the snowflakes will crying because she likes Donald Trump, therefore she becomes the devil! But yet week after week, the ratings still were phenomenal. Now that she made that tweet, ABC finally had an excuse to get rid of her. ABC will never change its mind because as you know, they will be considered racist themselves and we can't have that now, can we? I saw the original show and I did watch this season's shows. And the new shows are much better than the older ones because of the controversy and because of her poking fun at the cry babies. But not to worry, Hollibwood will be talking about this for the next week, Jimmy Kimmel probably came in his pants upon hearing this. |

It was far milder than what she said about Susan Rice. I still say that ABC was looking for an excuse because of all the left wing complaints about the show despite it's success. |

FROM TV LINE:NBC’s Sunday Night Football and This Is Us placed No. 1 and No. 2 for the 2017-18 TV season, with average ratings of 5.9 and 5.4 in the coveted 18-49 demo, respectively (including any available Live+7 DVR playback data). ABC’s revival of Roseanne came in third for the season (averaging a 5.0), while CBS’ Thursday Night Football package (4.5) and The Big Bang Theory (4.4) rounded out the Top 5. Clearly, the show was a hit. |
