You can't regulate gun use without organized, registered competency education, training and testing. That requires a public record of gun owners, including what guns they own. I have no problem with thta, there is NO right to privacy WRT gun ownership. It should be readily available to anyone who wishes to know who around them is armed.The NRA has lobbied to prevent this. Irony is this is what they once did. |

There is nothing in the Constitution that mandates a public record of gun owners. If anything there is ample amendments against such a law. First Amendment in particular. Just like the Government cannot compel the disclosure of membership lists, they cannot compel records of who own guns. |

Owning a gun does not make one unstable. You are just as likely to be hit by a stray bullet if some intruder tries to rob your neighbor's house. If they know that your neighbor owns a gun your chances increase because they will be targeting that house. |

That isn't a functional argument.Improper and careless storage, leaving guns loaded in the home are a far more potent threat to the innocent. Plus, a gun has value on the street. Not much else (only jewelry and maybe some Apple products) does anymore. Obtaining a gun would be desireable to a burglar, so maybe having (along the the chance of their getting same) the gun is what attracts them. |
