Something tells me this is going to suck.

Don't mess with an original with prequels & sequels.

Chase waited too long to do this project. 11 years after the Sopranos finale.

It might suck or it might not. Prequels and sequels aren't bad.

A prequel could be good but DON'T make a sequel. Gandolfini is dead and assumably so is Tony, and Silvio never woke up from his coma. You can't make Paulie Walnuts the star.

A prequel could be good but DON'T make a sequel.

It's been ten years since the Sopranos left the TV screen. If a prequel was to be done, it would have to be shortly after the series ended.

Ten years is too long a time. Viewers will always identify with the original, like me who has the DVD box set.

It's going to be about race, so Hollywood won't miss an opportunity. Blacks vs. Italians. This is how they will be able to use a strong brand name, "The Sopranos" to produce more content that has a race angle.

I always thought The Four Seasons got their sounds growing up around blacks in Newark and took it mainstream.

The projects in Newark, NYC and Chicago were mostly Italian residents for years until black families moved in. Some say the projects were built to keep Italians out of nice parts of town.

I was of the minority who didn't think that Tony got killed by the guy in the members only jacket in the diner, that it just faded to Black because the series was over and that's all they had to say about it. Now obviously they can never make a sequel now because James Gandolfini is dead and it wouldn't be the same without him. Silvio was in a coma and the doctor said he'll never come out of it so what would be the point of it with just Paulie Walnuts as an original member of the crew that New York took out the upper echelon in order to get the rest of the family in line and take them over. Besides, Tony sirico in real life is in the very beginning stages of dementia in case you haven't heard so there's that.

That's one show I never watched nor was interested in.

Now what would an All In The Family prequel look like? and who would be a good cast for it? Start with Archie coming back from WWII and go from there.

And oh yes: Enough with the bad neologisms ("prequel" from "sequel").

I don’t agree with you about the timing. The Star Wars prequels sucked, but not because they were produced so many years later.

Is he really? I ran into him on thanksgiving morning and he seemed fine to me. Although he does look older now. He is a nice guy it was pleasure meeting him. I can't believe it's been damn near 20 years since that show began. I wonder how many cast members have died already because it's quite a few.
It's like a curse having been on that show.

Now that's an idea.
I wonder who would play young Archie. Chris Farley would have been a good choice.
In 2018 maybe Jonah Hill or Seth Rogan???

Yes. In fact, he lives in My Friends building in Bay Ridge. It's at the very beginning stages and I think he is getting treatment for it but I can't be sure. I'll have to ask my friend next time I see him. But we used to play cards and he just walks around the neighborhood even during the height of The Sopranos Fame like a regular guy. He used to go to all of the police and fire benefits at the Bay Ridge Manor also. He has a checkered past but he walked away from all of that I believe.

OK, this is a truly bizarre auto-correct. Why on earth is "My Friends" capitalized?

Friends is a proper noun. It aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004.

The Friends building is in the Village though, on the corner of Bedford and Grove.

But neither of those is "My Friends."

I'm surprised by the M being capitalized.
