Jeff Sessions Announced Law Suit Against California
Posted by R2ChinaTown on Wed Mar 7 12:07:48 2018 Claiming California's sanctuary State policy is unconstitutional, the justice department will bring suit against the state and presumably, governor moonbeam. Given the 9th circuit's leftist propensity, what are the odds of success?

I have my doubts about this (from the Times): State lawmakers also passed the Immigrant Worker Protection Act, which prohibits local business from allowing immigration to gain access to employee records without a court order or subpoena. Seems like a restriction of free speech. Why can't I tell anyone I please who works for me? I have less doubt about this: One, the California Values Act, strictly limits state and local agencies from sharing information with federal officers about criminals or suspects unless they have been convicted of serious crimes. This is a case of telling your own employees how you want them to do their jobs to best attain the goal of reducing crime. But of course, I'm not Justice Kennedy, so I don't get to decide.

Ask The South during the civil rights era. States were found to be in contravention of the Civil Rights Act of 1965. Also, in that case states were preventing citizens from doing certain things, like sit in the front of a bus. So it's doubly different. States aren't preventing ordinary citizens from doing stuff (except for the dubious item about keeping businesses from talking to ICE without a subpoena - I would expect that one to fall). And secondly, there's no similar Act in the current situation that says that state employees must do x, y, and z. But again, I'm not Justice Kennedy, so my opinion is only worth the electrons it's expressed with.

Fighting against such rules in the Constitution means levying war against the USA, and that actually goes under Article 3 Section 3 (treason).
