I had bought most of my dress shirts and ties there, and my vacuum. But worse yet, the south parking lot of the mall is now useless - Sears had the best cut through with the shortest distance from a non-handicapped space to a door. The other lots are always full, since they are all close to the movie theater, outdoor restaurants and food court. I suspect they are now even worse. |

The Sears in my closest mall is still there, but looks like a museum. And is quite empty. Don't know how much longer it will last, but yes, always easy to park. |

The JC Penny in my closest mall is still there, but the store looked awful last time I was in there some months ago.They had closed a JC Penny homestore nearby, and stuffed everything into the mall store. What a cluttered mess. |

Malls, brick & mortar stores, mom & pop stores, AM radio, all fading to black.Just like a generation before. Els torn down replaced by subways. Trolleys replaced by busses. Busses replaced by light rail. Metro cards replace tokens. Gasoline replaced by batteries. Cigarettes replaced by e-cigs. On and on. Its just the way it is. I guess Darwin was right. |

When the dust settles I expect there to be two large department chains remaining - JC Penney and Macy's. They focus on clothes and sell all the 'parts' of an outfit. And that's where stores win over the internet: ability to try on clothes and combinations thereof. |

Mine, in Paramus Park, NJ, is closing at the end of this month. First floor will be a Stu Leonard's supermarket and dining and the upper level will be a theatre. The handwriting was on the wall when their parts warehouse and truck depot, a few miles south of me, closed down a few years ago. The demise of Sears did not happen overnight. That idiotic K-Mart merger, hastened the demise of both, also. Sorta reminds me of the Penn- Central merger! |

I wonder if these two are as dumpy as the other Macy's and Sears are today.They don't appear to even WANT to stay in business. Then again, I saw a regional department store closing the month before "The Holiday Season", so they gave up on one location in a yuppie area, and it's not a Bankrupt nor low-scale company. |
