The chances of a plane being involved in a fatal accident is now one in 16 million, according to the lead researcher, Adrian Young.Presumably that means any given flight. Whereas your chance of being involved in a fatal car crash are somewhere around 1 in 100 million for every single mile you travel. So a plane flight is about as dangerous as a 6-mile drive. |

Good analysis, though I would just add a driver may have at least slightly more say on reducing the chances based on own behavior and precautions whereas a typical passenger in a plane is pretty much just rolling the dice after buckling up and bracing correctly if told to. |

The 6 mile drive is driven by a mix of idiot drunks and very careful sober people.But to go, say, 1000 miles, there is no way even the safest driver is as safe as a commercial plane. Some fatal accidents cannot be prevented by the driver. |

The only anyone can actually say WRT trump and this success is that his people didn't do anything. Prior regulation provided this success. He'd be smart if he left the entire FAA alone, and fully fnded. Give them whatever they want. What he inherited from the Obama administration is working, obviously. |
