Just because several terrorist attacks, Bannon's firing, etc has taken over the news cycle doesn't mean that the story and issues surrounding news such as North Korea and Russia have somehow vanished. Right now there's this meeting about Afghanistan going on at Camp David, and nobody seems to be getting anything about it out. A bad decision there, which is never out of consideration with this bunch, could change the geopolitical picture for years.As it stands, the republicants gave Iran effective control of Iraq almost a decade ago. Now we're going to give them Afghanistan too? Coming into this, trump had been making noise about a complete withdrawl. Had the bush people retained focus on 9/11 instead of trying to outdo Daddy, we probably wouldn't be in Afghanistan now, having resolved it already. |
