Republicans ban reading of letter by Coretta Scott King

Can't read the letter in the Senate

Because it disparages a fellow senator.

I wouldn't blame the Republicans if they applied the same standards to Republicans as they do to Democrats. Somehow it was OK for Ted Cruz to call Mitch McConnell a liar.

The political scuttlebutt says that:

Democrat supporters: "McConnell just handed Warren a gift, elevating her standing for the 2020 nomination."

Trump supporters: "There is no one Trump would rather run against in 2020 than Elizabeth Warren."

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski was defending Warren on "Morning Joe," but back in November, a couple of weeks after the election, Mika said: "Do you lead on anger, though? Because that doesn’t seem very constructive to me. I gotta tell you. I love her; I’m getting tired of this act. There’s a huge part of the country that doesn’t think [Trump will be a disaster], and she might want to be a little inclusive because she is sounding like the people she is accusing of as being exclusive. I mean she’s just got to stop. I’m sorry. It’s getting exhausting. And this was not helpful during the campaign. It wasn’t. There’s an anger there that was shrill and a step above what it needed to be, unmeasured, and almost unhinged. It’s not going to work…” [My emphasis}.

Democrats wanted that seat for Caroline Kennedy or, failing that, the ability to choose someone else of their liking. Instead Patterson installed a nearly unknown Blue Dog Democrat of his own liking from Upstate.

Your issue is remarkably unimportant, however. For maybe 10 minutes a few prominent Democrats were distressed that their darling Caroline wasn't handed a Senate seat on a silver platter. They got over it and the rest of the world, and the rest of the Democratic Party, for that matter, never noticed.
