First congratulations to all of them. They all had great hall of fame worthy careers. Now what about Pete Rose, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, Rafael Palmeiro, Manny Ramirez, Gary Sheffield, and Roger Clemens? |

I changed my mind to 3. McGwire Sosa and Sheffield for sure. Palmeiro I'll give you because of the 3,000 hit club. I just never cared for him |

"Now what about Pete Rose, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, Rafael Palmeiro, Manny Ramirez, Gary Sheffield, and Roger Clemens?"Rose should definitely be in, but he has that pesky ban he agreed to. Of the others, I would put in Bonds, Manny and Clemens. They were all on drugs but either they all go in or they all stay out. I don't see Sheffield as a HOF'er but since he has over 500 homers its going to be hard to keep him out. If Sheffield goes in, Jim Thome should definitely go in next year. |

McGwire used performance enhancing drugs. That alone should disqualify him from consideration for the Hall of Fame. |

I agree with you to a degree. Before they were 30 Bonds and Clemens were upper echelon players for their generation as well as many others from the past. Undoubtedly heading toward the hall. Purely dominant players for their position. |

The true all time great leaders are those that make it on the first ballot. A sort of HoF within the HoF.Bagwell didn't make THAT list but I agree with his joining the hundreds of other "mere" Hall of Famers. Same with Raines. I think Trevor Hoffman belongs there too. Maybe next year along with Mike Mussina and eventually Bonds, Clemens and Sosa. |

Even by the standards of the Steroid Era, McGwire's numbers don't add up to HoF material when compared with those of Bonds, Rodriguez, Sosa, Ramirez, Palmeiro and others. |

It would be a small hall if it was first ballot guys. Maybe the threshold should be raised to 90%. Of course they need a class every year though. Bagwell was a nice player but I don't see HoF for him. But since he makes it then Raines is fine with me. Hoffman is not deserving regardless of what his numbers are. Moose was borderline and if I have to think about it it says enough. Bonds and Clemens are born for the Hall. Sosa is not a consideration. Extremely popular but not an all time great. Vlad Guerrero is way ahead of Sosa on the depth chart so to speak. |
