President Obama's Legacy

Posted by R2ChinaTown on Wed Jan 18 09:02:21 2017

With just 2 days left in his historic presidency, much is being made of Obama's "legacy". There are so many things that i can name off the top of my head like:
First black president.
Refused to back Israel inthe UN
Most terrorists pardoned

but I honestly believe his greatest legacy will be that he permanently divided this nation when he got a man with no political experience, elected as his successor.

No, that's not the act of his that "permanently divided" the USA.

Obama didn't have that much political experience himself when he took office. Neither did Michael Bloomberg or Rudy Giuliani and they were pretty damn good Mayors.

I will remember Barack Obama as a charming orator but an arrogant, narrow-minded liar who left things a lot worse than he found them.

Race relations in the United States.

You're saying that there is more racial discrimination in employment and housing than there was 8 years ago? That's the key issue. I don't have to like you, but I do have to rent to you if you satisfy the financial criteria.

The image of the United States around the world.

What have we done since 2008 that has hurt our image anywhere near as much as messing up Iraq?

The national debt.

OK, yeah, the worst recession since 1933 will do that. Would you rather that Congress and the president had kept spending within income Hoover-style?

How did he make race relatioms worse in the US. Was he out here shooting unarmed black folk? I think many of these events and social media taking these stories from regional stories to national ones did more to damage race relations than anything. I don't get this complaint and how it's Obama's fault.
The image of this nation is a joke now with Trump. Besides Isreal's current Prime Minister and Putin Obama is pretty much universally respected.
The national has risen but what is to be expected trying to get a country out of a recession? Congress has as much to do with national debt than a president.

So like the writer you don't like Obama bc he wasn't progressive enough? Lol

For every article like that you post there's articles like this...
https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/01/17/opinion/the-most-successful-democrat-since-fdr.html?referer=https://www.google.com/

The truth is if Obama was as terrible as you guys say this country would still be in the shit hole it was in economically as the great recession of 2008. Unlike you guys I remember my friends losing their jobs, I remember being downsized myself, i remember how shitty (mostly) black folk were treated by the federal gov't during Katrina, I remember a president blatently lying to get us to go to war with Iraq with no exit strategy and causing thousands of kids to lose their lives (we're still trying to get out over s decade later) and the instability in the middle east as a result. So when I hear Obama's the worst and caused racial divisions forgive me if I laugh.
