I tried to listen to 1010 WINS recently (simulcast on 102.7-HD3), and I found nothing interesting. Not worth it unless there's some breaking news.

I can't stand the radio when I am driving, unless on a boring stretch of I-380 or I-81, and that is not much at all.

My car has a cassette/radio. No such thing as CD's in 1992.

If that's not normal, I suppose the network and cable news channels would just have cartoons or prison shows until 9am or so.

Obviously, they have a significant audience, or they would not do it.

Sure there were CDs in 1992.

I had a CD player in a 1987 model car. It connected via the tape deck using an adapter. The same adapter would work today on a smartphone or iPod (not the iPhone 7 though, how brave of Apple). I'm pretty sure I still have it.

A significant audience may still be a small percentage of the general population.

Many TV stations in fact still have their overnight infomercials until 9AM or so.

And that's fine. You enjoy listening to TV news or radio news in the morning getting ready, others can't stand that or don't have time.

??

I had CD's in 1992. Of course there were CD's.

I also had one of those adapter things for CD's that worked off the Cassette Deck.

There's everything you desire on TV at any given time, doesn't mean the the majority or even a small sample of people watch it.
