I cannot listen to Neil Young sing so here is Lady Antebellum, quite possibly racist since the band is from the South, performing his song off of Harvest. I have it on good authority all Southern bands are racist with the following exceptions:

1. Dixie Chicks
2. Indigo Girls
3. Kennedy Rose

He and his group were amazing. Saw him once at Slug's, where he was still playing, and with June Tyson parading "through the galaxies," around the room at four in the morning.

Saw him about three or four more times in Boston. The most intense show being one in '78 or '79 at the Mass College of Art. They started out with an Ascension like collective improvisation which got fuurther and fuurther out. Then Sun Ra brought it back in after a firey keyboard solo, (full of more feedback than Pink Floyed could ever dream of), he quieted the room way down to almost dead silence, then started playing "The Way You Look Tonight" softly on organ, then next there was some Fletcher Henderson piece, played by the entire Arkestra at a tempo of a run-a-way coach down a mountain path.

Never spoke with him. You were lucky to spend a little time talking with him and getting his autograph.

John Swed's bio is supposed to be very good. have it, haven't read it yet.

Thanks to Olog-hai, for posting.

The bebop style has been stereotyped a little bit as purely improv for a small number of musicians, but here you see it dressed up for orchestra and how well it works.

And I can't think of any other version of Salt Peanuts but the one here to be the definitive one.
