Has America Jumped the Shark?

Posted by Mitch45 on Wed Jul 27 07:59:59 2016

After watching both of the conventions and the incessant blatherings of the talking heads on Fox, CNN, MSNBC et al, I feel positively nauseous. What happened to this country? Are an orange-skinned wacko and a criminally negligent lying banshee the best we can do? What happened to the America of FDR, Harry Truman, Ike and JFK? Honorable people who were true leaders? What happened to civility and stature? I'm just very sad.

The 24 hour news cycle and the Internet happened.

Nobody with 1/8 of a brain who isn't criminally insane or a megalomaniac wants to be President anymore.

There was a popular theory that extraordinary times bred extraordinary leaders. A prime example was World War II which saw Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini on the world stage all at once.

Now nobody is extraordinary for more than a news cycle.

You imply that Clinton "had the opportunity to take action once the atrocity was known and did not."

Yet you don't explain what action Clinton had the opportunity to take and did not take.
