The Democratic Party has already splintered. That's what the Green Party is all about - people who dislike the Democrats so much they don't care who gets elected. They had a great victory in 2000 and may have another one this year.

But it's looking like a 90/10 or 98/2 splintering, not anything like 60/40. The trouble for Hillary is that even 98/2 could sink her, though not the Party.

I know many people who would have preferred Sanders as the candidate but are quite accepting of Clinton. They're not staying home or voting for Stein.

It's interesting that the Republican establishment just hated Trump there was talk of this before the convention for them.

It just shows that Republicans are more about loyalty and solidarity than the Democrats.

I loved what Sander had to say, he has the right ideas. But he fell flat fast for me because hehad not elucidated how he was going to get those ideas implemented. Hillary always shared the same goals, but caution has always prevailed for her so she didn't bring them as blatantly in your face as Sanders did. That he did got her to heartily agree and so we have an excellent Democratic platform.

She was always to the left og Bill. And as you saw last night, her forte has been inplementing good ideas into policy. This is the President we need.

IAWTP. If the Democrats nominated someone even halfway like Trump he'd lose miserably.

She was always to the left og [of] Bill.

Always? A self-proclaimed Goldwater Girl!!!!

What's important now, isn't how she compares to Bill of 1992. What's important is how she compares to the Sanders supporters of 2016.

The GOP is also fractured.

A higher percentage of Republicans will vote for Johnson than Democrats will vote for Stein.

Well of course, Johnson's on the ballot in all 50 states while Stein is only in 23 states. Even if she were to wage a fantastic campaign and successfully win over every democrat, she'd still lose and guarantee a Trump win.

Of course if Green wins even one state, the next election you can bet it would be on the ballot in all of them, and you might see some state & local candidates for the Green party... sacrifice the battle to win the war (and I would say it is a worthwhile sacrifice).

If Trump wins we simply get a do-over for the Democratic primary in 4 years instead of 8. Disenfranchised Sanders supporters might see that as a valid reason to vote Trump as well.

No way the Stupordelegates are going to let their antidemocratic work be wasted on another candidate besides Hillary.
