No he isn't. I've known Libertarians (and before them, Objectivists and Ayn Randers) for about a half-century.

I've heard him speak. He's not a principled Libertarian and has his own half-baked ideas that he pretends are libertarian.

Plus he's a jerk. Don't do as I did in 2000 when I threw away my vote on Ralph Nadir. If you can't stomach Hillary or Donald stay home and enjoy a beer.

No, he is not. He'd be just like the two frontrunners.

What's a "principled Libertarian"? They all lie about wanting small government, because a socially-liberal society requires big government to keep it in check.

A fully "principled libertarian" lives in a utopian world that cannot exist in real life.

That's the problem with libertarian philosophy. There has to be more structure and more government (even at a most basic level) than a "principled libertarian" could accept.

Yes, their world could not make it in any "pure" sense, but philosophically they can still chew their own food. They are the opposite of governing by focus group, which is really an attempt to simply perpetuate a politician's tenure.

Johnson chews too much and what he spits out is not coherent.

Can't I at least go and vote for the non-Presidential elections? BTW, I can't stand Ralph Nader as the Corvair was one of my all time favorite cars!!!

Oh sure! You can have the beer later. :)

Why was the Corvair one of the favorites?

The turbo version was a bit anemic. Nothing like the 911 turbo.

I remember knowing someone with a mid-60s Corvair that had a two-speed automatic. It drove just fine.

Rear engine?

Rear engine cars (like the Corvair and the Volkswagon) fascinated me as a kid. Dunno why, maybe because it was different (and of course I was familiar with a large rear-engined vehicle known as a bus) :)

Most US buses started out as front-engined, FWICS.

And speaking of rear-engined cars, I saw a first-generation Toyota MR2 yesterday, of all cars; the one that looked a little like the FIAT X1/9. Don't think it was the rare supercharged version.

I still have an inoperable (head gasket expensive to replace) MR2. Great car! Quick, nimble, fun to drive. 25 mpg too. Amazing what they could do with 4 cylinders.

I don't know. I guess I just liked it. Maybe it was the rear engine and front trunk. The American version of the VW Beetle and as a Jew I'd never buy a German car. Or maybe it was the looks. I almost bought a used one when I got my license in 1971 but my father talked me out of it!!

Voting in Johnson is a brilliant strategy, though.

1. No Libertarians in Congress means he is the closest thing to electing an empty chair, so it doesn't really matter if you agree with his issues. He won't have any power to do anything.

2. We get a do-over of both major primaries in 2020 instead of one in 2020 and the other in 2024.

Gary Johnson, the None of the Above option we desperately need!
