Italians don't eat standard pizza by the slice for lunch.What it usually is, is a square or rectangular focaccia or in Puglia, a fried panzerotto (a type of calzone). I never understood why panzerotti never really came to America. With our love (and abuse) of fried stuff, it would have made the guy a billionaire, especially in the Southern US. |
