Not sure why you couldn't restrict use to a park or beach. Those are pretty well-defined areas. In theory, a drone user should be able able to control its flight to keep it within the area. |

Yes, it is illegal; all I'm saying is you could easily make it illegal only in parks, etc. if you wanted. But the moment the drone left the park, a ticket could be issued. |

No. The link he posted only regulates what can be done in City parks. Generally, no aerial devices can be used in parks -- except where specifically allowed as shown on that link.There is NO general NYC ordinance against drone use, though one is being considered in the City Council as we speak. Also, FAA rules prohibit drone use within 5 miles of airports, so that would cover significant radii around LAG and JFK. |

A tourist was ticketed for flying a drone in Central Park a few days ago. Turns out he flew it over the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, which is why he got the ticket. Also, the FAA prohibits flying drones over people.IIRC a NYC councilman wants to enact an ordinance to ban drone flying except for cops with a warrant. |
