I upgraded to windows 10 |
|
Posted by B68 slow poke on Fri Oct 9 00:37:52 2015 I only upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 because all the updates were not being installed?... So I GAVE IN to windows 10. Since... The only strange thing is that the EDGE BROWSER has DISAPPEARED from the user account. It is still in the tray of the administrative account. Not that I care because I use IE. And if I choose I will use firefox. But... just one strange item at large. |

Other people aren't so happy.Reception Data from August 2015 showed that user uptake of Edge was low, with only 2% of overall computer users using the new browser. Among Windows 10 users usage peaked at 20% and then dropped to 14% through August 2015, as users tried it and many stopped using it in favor of other browsers.[24] In an August 2015 review by Dan Grabham of Techradar of Windows 10, Microsoft Edge was praised for its performance, albeit not being in a feature-complete state at launch.[25] Andrew Cunningham of Ars Technica praised the browser for being "tremendously promising", and "a much better browser than Internet Explorer ever was", but criticized it for its lack of functionality on-launch.[26] Thom Holwerda of OSNews criticized Edge in August 2015 for its hidden URL bar, lack of user friendliness, poor design and a tab system that is "so utterly broken it should never have shipped in a final release". He described the browser's implemented features, "Infuriating doesn't even begin to describe it" and "some sort of cosmic joke".[27] |

I understand it's shortcomngs, and I generally use Firefox, but Edge is usable. I haven't found a version of I.E. That I use with any frequency on my personal computer in 13 years or so. |

And you're worried about Apple's stuff. :)As of version 34, Firefox stopped getting upgraded for KNOS aside from recompiling it with every needed security patch. They made a deal with google and doubleclick, and I won't expose OUR customers to it. |

Far from it ... doubleclick was the original privacy threat on the internet for which NSClean was created. Google bought them. Firefox ALWAYS got pad for making google the default search engine, that's far from news. Here's where the shit started, won't even bring up the "gay controversy" or why coders like myself stopped participating in mozilla - that'll have to wait for some spare time for the story monster. http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/05/13/mozilla-firefoxs-sponsored-tabs-stir-up-controvers.aspx Sorry that the link's for Motley, plenty of others there. And our friends at Chromium open source browser decided to leave a mic on for google at all times. There's REASONS why despite it still being a work in progress, I use Midori and love it. No foolishness there, and in KNOS, we've cut all those cords. |

Startpage is a good choice, and there's plenty more out there about how mozilla sold out, how they fucked their own people, and especially all us coders who WROTE their "free open sores" for them only to take it up the ass. I bailed two years ago. |

I always liked it even though it was riddled with holes. My FAVORITE was Win98 once they fixed it. You could FIND the viruses on that one and remove them. :)Been using KNOS since 2007, permanently for everything since 2009. Me happy. |

Posted by orange blossom special on Fri Oct 9 14:34:23 2015, in response to I upgraded to windows 10, posted by B68 slow poke on Fri Oct 9 00:37:52 2015. as an insider, I recommend and enjoy Windows 10 fully. Which is rather unusual, i never like new things...But there was an issue a few builds ago where Edge has disappeared. Searching online only nets me the usual "System restore" or go back to a restore point type of answer. Are people allowed to do a clean install than an upgrade? Seems to be always where problems come from... |
